Akaroa Butchery & Deli has been in residence since 1913 when the 1870’s built building was converted from a sweet shop. Butcher Brendan (aka Fred) Foster took over in 2011 after deciding to move his sausage making adventures out of the woodshed and into business.
Brendan, alongside local butcher Ben Frost and imported Frenchman and charcutier Eric Varray presents free farmed pork, beef and lamb, Bostock’s organic free range chicken, fresh and smoked Akaroa Salmon. Walk in from the street and you’ll smell lamb and beef pies brewing and fresh baked breads.
Award winning manuka smoked, honey cured ham and bacon and preservative and gluten free sausages are made on site, as are a fine selection of French pâtés.
Inspired by New Zealand’s impressive and diverse food stories and the age old tradition of Mediterranean fare the Butchery & Deli stocks a range of condiments and merchandise; Robinsons Bay Olive Oil, Pigeon Bay preserved lemons, Barrys Bay Cheese, Te Mata Fig Preserves, Fix & Fogg Peanut Butter, Mandy’s Horseradish, San Pellegrino and Govino glasses.
